AMBOY — Cynthia R. "Cindy" McCoy, 58, of Amboy died Monday, Jan. 20, 2020 at University Hospital in Madison, Wis.
She was born Nov. 26, 1961 in Mendota, the daughter of Donald and Sandra (Friel) Schamberger. Cindy married Dennis McCoy on Jan. 27, 1978 in Dixon.
She had worked at First Federal Savings, was a teacher's aide at Amboy Central School, and also worked at the Jack Mabley Center in Dixon and the First National Bank in Amboy. Most recently she had owned and operated the Countryside Tap in Sublette. She was a member of St Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy and enjoyed swimming at the YMCA in Dixon and doing yard work. Cindy also coached softball and was a "super grandmother" to her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and sister, Bonnie Sue Gorzny.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Dennis; children, Tony (Katie Wetzell) McCoy, of Morrison, Emily (Michael) O'Malley, of Amboy, Mitch (Katrina) McCoy, of Princeton; nine grandchildren, Dalton McCoy, Mason McCoy, Abby O'Malley, Madison O'Malley, Collin O'Malley, Myla McCoy, Makaylee McCoy, Mairyn McCoy and Maxton McCoy; her mother, Sandy Schamberger, of Amboy; two sisters, Cheryl (Steven) Prendergast, of Dixon and Gaylene (Donnie) Noble, of Amboy; brothers, Rick (Joyce) Schamberger, of Amboy and Randy (Angel) Schamberger, of Eldena; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020, at St Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy with the Rev Richard Kramer officiating. Burial will follow at St Patrick Cemetery in Maytown with a luncheon following the burial at the Amboy Community Center. Visitation will be held from 2 – 8 p.m., on Friday, at the Amboy Community Center, 280 W. Wasson Rd. Amboy, with the Rosary at 8 p.m. A memorial has been established.
