Cross Country team opens season with Rocket Run

ROCK FALLS – Amboy’s cross country runners opened the season in the Rocket Run on Aug. 23 at Rock Falls.

In varsity boys’ competition, the Clippers finished fifth in the team standings with 96 points. Rockford Christian grabbed the top spot with 23 points, followed by Newman (67), Rock Falls (80) and Erie-Prophetstown (81). Placing behind Amboy were Genoa-Kingston (187) and Eastland (196).

Amboy entered six boys in the event and Kyler McNinch led the pack with a third-place overall finish in a time of 16:28. Atticus Horner checked in next in 16th place with a time of 18:29 and Charlie Dickinson was 22nd in 19:13. Garrett Pertell (33rd, 20:08), Kelton Schwamberger (40th, 21:00) and Jaden Haley (47th, 22:03) completed the lineup.

The Amboy girls had four runners in the competition. Natalie Pratt finished 38th in a time of 26:25, followed by Samantha Nauman (40th, 26:45), Anna Carlson (41st, 26:48) and Addison Pertell (45th, 27:09).

Rockford Christian was the overall team winner with 51 points. Also scoring points were Cambridge (67), Rock Falls (69), Oregon (82), Erie-P. (123), Newman (133) and Genoa-K. (163).
