Community invited to have Thanksgiving with Teen Turf

AMBOY — It’s that time of the year again where we sit down, pay thanks, and enjoy a huge turkey dinner for Thanksgiving.
Teen Turf, for the seventh year, is hosting a free community Thanksgiving Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Teen Turf Building, Boehle Youth Center, at 235 West Main St., in Amboy.
There will be entertainment at noon and the dinner will begin at 1 p.m.
“I feel it’s a big blessing because it’s what we do all year. We are always thankful, but this is the time of the year where we say it,” said Teen Turf Executive Director Eileen Piper. “It gives people another opportunity to do something different. Generally, we do multi-generational all year long, but this is extra special.
“It’s Thanksgiving and so many people put it all together to make it work.”
The full Thanksgiving dinner is made possible by the Impact program, Teen Turf volunteers, and the Amboy community.
Teen Turf kids will be serving plates as guests walk through the feast line.
“We’re thankful that God lets us have this place. It’s been going for 28 years without state or federal monies,” said Piper. “It’s all the donations from our community. United Way is a big supporter, but it’s mostly our community.”
If there are any questions, Piper can be reached at 815-857-4800.
