Clippers to take the field

AMBOY — The Amboy Clippers baseball team kicks off the 2018 season, on the road, on March 13. They face a familiar foe in conference rival Forreston. The Cardinals ended the Clipper’s season last May in the Regional final.

The Clippers lost five senior starters from last year’s team. They, in turn, bring back three All-Conference players in Senior Justin Hart, and Juniors Mitch McLaughlin and Hunter Zimmerly. Also returning are Juniors Maverick Lindemeyer, Clayton Kemp and Logan Whelchel, who played key roles in last year’s success.

With only three seniors on the team, Hart, Reece Vaessen and Ethan Latta, and Junior Frank Piscitello, the Clippers will look to some underclassmen to contribute. The Sophomore class has low numbers, but there are 10 Freshman playing.

All home games are played at Amboy City Park, with the first game on March 15.
