Clippers season comes to end in Regional play

STERLING – The Amboy Clippers saw their baseball season come to an end after dropping an 8-4 decision to Sterling Newman in the Newman Class 1A Regional on May 18 at Sterling.

The Comets jumped out to a 7-0 lead after three innings.

Amboy did all of its scoring in the fifth inning. Brody Christoffersen and Dillon Merriman had hits in the inning, in which the Clippers sent all nine batters to the plate.

The Clippers loaded the bases in the sixth but could not score.

Newman wrapped up the scoring with a tally in the bottom of the sixth.

Amboy concluded the season with a 12-11 record.
