Clippers power to top of standings at meet

AMBOY – Ten first-place finishes powered the Amboy-LaMoille boys’ track team to the top of the standings in a six-team meet on May 1 at the AHS track.

The Clippers smoked the rest of the field in the standings with 134 points. Mendota was the closest competitor with 63 points. Milledgeville checked in next with 62 points, followed by Earlville (27), Ashton-Franklin Center (26) and Hinckley-Big Rock (4).

Amboy-LaMoille athletes took top honors in eight individual events and two relays. Individual firsts went to Marcus Winn in the 100-meter dash (11.58), Thomas Stamberger in the 800-meter run (2:15.74) and 3200-meter run (10:52.34), Austin Norman in the 110-meter hurdles (17.59), Travis Eames in the 300-meter hurdles (45.23), Casen Cherry in the triple jump (38-3), Kyle Hunter in the shot put (42-8.5) and Austin Lundquist in the discus (130-1.5).

Breaking the tape in relays for the Clippers were the 4x200 (1:44.74) and the 4x400 (3:47.84). Making up the 4x200 squad were Norman, Cherry, Hunter Walzer and Winn, while the 4x400 group included Eames, Cherry, Thomas Molln and Stamberger.
