Clippers lose games on the road to Eastland, Newman, Milledgeville on the road

AMBOY — Amboy’s varsity baseball team traveled to Lanark and dropped an 11-1 decision to Eastland on May 9.

Jackson Rogers was the losing pitcher for the Clippers. He allowed 10 hits and eight earned runs. He struck out three and walked four. Caden Wittenauer came on in relief.

Rogers, Quinn Leffelman, Sam Russell, Andruw Jones and Haden McCoy collected one hit apiece for the Clippers, with McCoy driving in the run in the sixth inning.

Newman was a 10-0 winner over Amboy on May 11 at Sterling. The Comets pushed across the 10th run in the bottom of the fifth to win by the 10-run rule.

Rogers had a pair of singles for the Clippers, while Jones doubled.

Jones took the loss, giving up six hits and six runs in three innings.

The Clippers wrapped up regular season play with an 8-2 loss at Milledgeville on May 12.

Rogers had two hits for Amboy. Leffelman and McCoy added RBI singles.

Brody Christoffersen was the starting pitcher for the Clippers and absorbed the loss. He permitted 10 hits, walked one and struck out four in five innings.

Amboy finished the regular season with a 7-10 overall record and a 5-5 conference mark.
