AMBOY — The Amboy Clipper varsity baseball team concluded the regular season with a nonconference win and two losses to highly-rated Freeport Aquin.
The Clippers had an easy time in disposing of Oregon, 13-1, in a nonconference contest on May 7 at Oregon.
Clayton Kemp collected four hits in as many at-bats for Amboy, while Mitchell McLaughlin and Justin Hart had two hits apiece. Lane Boehle added a double and an RBI.
Logan Whelchel pitched a complete game to earn the victory for the Clippers.

Amboy hosted Freeport Aquin for its final home game on May 8. Aquin, which is ranked in the top 10 of Class 1A teams in the state, picked up a 7-0 victory over the Clippers.
Hart picked up two hits for Amboy, while McLaughlin and Ethan Latta both singled.
Hunter Zimmerly pitched 6 1/3 innings and took the loss.
Hart, Latta and Reece Vaessen were honored on Senior Night.

Aquin and Amboy hooked up again on May 10 in Freeport and the result was the same – an 11-5 win for the Bulldogs.
Maverick Lindenmeyer paced the offense with four hits, while Boehle added a single and a double.
Reece Vaessen #6, a senior at Amboy High School, plays for varsity as outfield, third base, and pitcher.
