Clippers close regular season with loss to Somonauk

SOMONAUK – The Amboy Clippers closed out the regular baseball season with a 5-4 loss at Somonauk on May 11. Amboy was 12-10 during the regular season campaign.

Somonauk got the scoring started with three runs in the bottom of the first, but Amboy responded with three tallies in the top of the second to tie the game. Landon Montavon was hit by a pitch, Dillon Merriman walked, Garrett Pertell singled and Ryan Dickinson had a sacrifice.

The Clippers nudged across a run in the fifth to take the lead. Quinn Leffelman drew a lead-off walk and later scored. Tucker Lindenmeyer and Montavon had singles in the frame.

Somonauk quickly tied the contest with a run in the bottom of the inning, and then the Bobcats plated the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth without the benefit of a hit.

Lindenmeyer paced the Clipper offense with three singles, while Pertell added a pair of singles.

Brody Christoffersen was on the hill for Amboy.
