AMBOY – The Amboy Clippers’ baseball team held its awards banquet for the 2018 season.
Five Clippers were named to the NUIC All-Conference team. Mitchell McLaughlin was named to the first team, Justin Hart and Hunter Zimmerly were chosen to the second team, and Clayton Kemp and Maverick Lindenmeyer received honorable mention recognition.
The Clippers also named the team award winners. Lindenmeyer was selected the most improved player, Zimmerly earned the top pitcher award, Hart received the Gold Glove award and McLaughlin captured the Silver Slugger award as the top hitter. Hart and McLaughlin shared the award as team co-MVPs.
Amboy loses two starters to graduation in Hart and Reece Vaessen. With the return of a strong core of juniors and several underclassmen getting valuable playing time this year on the varsity level, next season looks very promising for the Clippers.
