Clipper golfers to compete at Regionals


OREGON – The Amboy Clippers will compete in the Oregon Class 1A Regional Golf Tournament on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at Silver Ridge Golf Course.

In addition to the Amboy boys, other teams in the field include Byron, Erie, Hinckley-Big Rock, Morrison, Oregon, Polo, North Boone, Port Byron Riverdale, Rockford Christian Life, Rockford Lutheran, Rockford Christian, Indian Creek and Sterling Newman.

The top three teams and the first 10 best scoring players not members of a qualifying team will advance to the sectional. The sectional will be hosted by Riverdale High School and played at TPC Deere Run on Monday, Oct. 3.

Other regionals feeding into the Riverdale Sectional are Monmouth-Roseville, St. Bede and Galena.

Girls golf

Members of the Amboy girls’ golf team will participate in the Rock Falls Class 1A Regional Golf Tournament on Thursday, Sept. 29 at Deer Valley Golf Course in Deer Grove.

Other teams competing in the regional include Cambridge, Dixon, Erie, Galva, Geneseo, Kewanee, Kewanee Wethersfield, Bureau Valley, Morrison, Orion, St. Bede, Port Byron Riverdale, Princeton, Rock Falls, Rock Island Alleman and Sterling Newman.

The top three teams and the first 10 best scoring individuals not members of a qualifying team will advance to the sectional, which will be hosted by Kewanee High School on Monday, Oct. 3 at Baker Park Golf Course in Kewanee. Other regionals feeding into the sectional include Metamora, Canton and Rockford Boylan.
