DIXON — Charles A. “Charlie” Bahr, 64, of Dixon, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon, surrounded by his children, following a brief and courageous battle.
Visitation will be from 4 – 7 p.m., on Monday, May 1, 2017, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at the funeral home, with Pastor Jack Briggs, officiating. Burial of cremains will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon immediately following the memorial service.
He began working as an automotive technician at Zeien Service in Dixon. Charlie later purchased the business from Herb Zeien and called it Bahr Enterprises, Inc. He owned that successful business for 20 years, later working for other local businesses, including Harden’s Auto Repair, Whatever Trucking, and Ron’s Automotive.
Charlie was born March 30, 1953, in Rockford, the son of Floyd A. and Mary Lu (Sauer) Bahr. He was a member of the Dixon Rotary Club and Dixon Moose Lodge where he was “Moose of the Year in 2008 – 2009.” Charlie was a good friend, was very proud of his children, and loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren, Collin and Lauren.
He is survived by two daughters, Annie Bahr, of West Chicago, Sara (Scott) Beauchamp, of Dixon; one son, Chad Bahr, of Dixon; his mother, Mary Lu Bahr, of Bend, Oregon; one brother, Steven (Michelle) Bahr, of Bend, Oregon; one sister, Susan Bahr-Maranto, of Hot Springs, Ark.; two grandchildren, Collin and Lauren Beauchamp; and special friends, Dorie, Brent, and Nate.
Charlie was preceded in death by his father.
Arrangements are being completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon.
