AMBOY — Cecil E. Harrison, 87, of Amboy passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Thursday June 2, 2022 at OSF St Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.
He was born March 15, 1935, in Amboy the son of Cecil C. and Catherine (Weidner) Harrison. Cecil attended Amboy schools graduating with the class of 1953. He was a life-long farmer and resident of the Amboy area. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. Cecil was united in marriage to Shirley Fleetwood on May 11, 1957, at St Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy where they recently celebrated their 65th anniversary.
He was a 50 year member and past president of the Amboy Lions Club and received the Melvin Jones Award. He was also a member of Lee FS, the Lee County Livestock Association, Amboy American Legion Post 453, and St. Patrick Catholic Church. Cecil enjoyed spending time with family and friends and looked forward to the Harrison family weekend on Lake Wisconsin.
He is survived by his wife Shirley; children, Janice (Buck) Fenwick, Barbara (Jack Leffelman) Harrison, Curtis (Linda) Harrison, John (Susan) Harrison, Lisa (Brad) Goy, and Bradley Harrison; grandchildren, Benjamin (Lisa) Fenwick, Delaney (Jake) Teasdale, Tyler Fenwick, Drew (Nichole) Goy, Dillon Goy, Grant Harrison, Meghan Harrison, Colton Pate, Noah Harrison, Cade Harrison; three great-grandchildren, Oliver, Case and Isaac; two sisters, Dorothy Cheshier and Rosetta Baumgartner; two brothers, Gerald (Mary Ann) Harrison and Stanley (Mary) Harrison; two sisters-in-law, Sharon Harrison and Mary Harrison; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Duane, Stephen and Raymond Harrison; and two sisters, Rita Leffelman and Mary Genavon Mead.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, June 6, 2022, at St Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy. Burial with military honors will follow at St Patrick Cemetery in Amboy. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m., at St Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy with the Rosary at 3:30 p.m. Visitation will also be on Monday from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials have been established to the Amboy Lions Club and the Amboy American Legion Post.
The family would like to thank the staffs at KSB Hospital and OSF St Anthony Medical Center for the wonderful care they care they gave Cecil and to the family.
