CARMEL — Carol Ann Kieffer, 75, of Mt. Carmel, passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2017 with her loving family by her side.

Friends and family may call from 4 – 8 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 125 West Fifth Street, Mt. Carmel. Rosary Service will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with burial following at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

She was born May 11, 1941 in Amboy, the daughter of Paul and Violette (Kuehne) McCaffrey.  On Aug. 21, 1971, Carol married Donald E. Kieffer in Dixon, at St. Patrick’s Church. 

Carol received a Bachelor’s Degree from Portland University in Portland, Oregon and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Illinois in Champaign. Carol was very active in the community. She was a member of Daughters of Isabella, the American Youth Hostel group, Various Community Bridge groups and the Mt. Carmel Soccer Association. Carol was very involved with her family and loved every moment she could spend with them.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Don, of 45 years of marriage; children, Karen (Gus) Ikonomopoulos, of Austin, Texas, Ann (David) James, of Mt. Carmel, Karl (Peggy) Kieffer, of Hamburg, Germany, Brad Kieffer, of New Orleans, La., and Dean Kieffer, of Mt. Carmel; and grandchildren, Levi and Bri James, Jason and Lexi Ikonomopoulos, Jordan Brooks, Donovan, Connor and Ryan Kieffer.

Preceding her in death were her parents, brother, Paul McCaffrey, sister and brother-in-law, Jolene (Tom) Connley.

Friends and family may call from 4 – 8 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 125 West Fifth Street, Mt. Carmel. Rosary Service will begin at 7:30 p.m.
