CHAMPAIGN - Amboy High School wrestler Landon Blanton won one of three matches and did not place in the IHSA Class 1A Boys’ State Wrestling Tournament held Feb. 16-18 at the State Farm Center in Champaign.

The AHS freshman, competing in the 113-pound weight class, opened the state tournament with an 8-4 decision loss to Logan Roberts of Latham.

Blanton bounced back to pin Kingston Sawyers of Chicago Harlan in 5:25 before dropping a 12-2 decision to Alex Powell of Litchfield.

Blanton concluded the season with a 43-11 record.
