Beverly was born on April 29, 1932, in Amboy, to Elmer and Ruth (Reid) Underhile. She was a class of 1950 graduate of Amboy High School, where her mother and siblings had also attended. She married Chester “Chet” Beams on May 24, 1951. She had worked at Harper Wyman in Princeton for over 40 years, where she worked for several years in repairs, and made gas valves samples for the salesmen in her final years, retiring when the plant closed.
Beverly was baptized by faith. She was a member of the Tiskilwa Community Church. Three times she rode mules to the bottom on the Grand Canyon, stayed overnight at Phantom Ranch, and rode back-up the next day, the first time with her sisters, the second time with her husband for their 40th anniversary and the third time with her two grandsons.
She and her husband had a true love of horses, horse riding and dancing to Country and Western music. She rode the National Scenic Trail Ride in Missouri with her husband for over 25 years. She walked many miles on the Tiskilwa Rock Island Line – Iowa Interstate railroad tracks in Tiskilwa with her grandkids. Many times the grandkids would tire out and she would carry them on her back. She enjoyed doing things with her entire family for all of her life.
She is survived by her son, Mark (Cindy) Beams, of Campbellsville, Ky.; her grandsons, Alexander (Caitlin) Beams of Marshall, Wis. and Chance (Jennifer) Beams of Campbellsville, Ky.; two great-grandchildren of Campbellsville, Ky.; two sisters, Jane Miles, of Oregon, Illinois and Joyce Gibson, of Dixon; brother-in-law, Wendell Snell, of Dixon; and her sister-in-law, Laura Underhile, of Dixon.
