Ashton woman arrested in stabbing incident in village

ASHTON — During the evening hours of March 7, Lee County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a call of a Domestic Disturbance involving a stabbing in the village of Ashton. 

When deputies arrived on scene, they learned 45-year-old Jennifer Cagle had stabbed an individual with a screwdriver. When deputies attempted to take Jennifer into custody, she resisted arrest and battered deputies and was subsequently taken into custody. Jennifer was charged with the following, Aggravated Domestic Battery (Class 2 Felony), Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer (Class 2 Felony), Aggravated Battery to a Health Care Professional (Class 2 Felony), Obstructing a Peace Officer with injury (Class 4 Felony), Resisting or Obstructing a Peace Officer (Class A Misdemeanor). Deputies were assisted on the scene by Ashton Ambulance.

Callers can remain anonymous and receive rewards of up to $1,000 if their information leads to an arrest.

All charges are merely an allegation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
