Amboy schools implement e-learning

Posted

Based upon the ever-evolving situation that the Coronavirus is representing and ISBE’s most recent guidance to maintain social distance at this time I am canceling the SIP day scheduled for tomorrow and replacing it with an e-learning day.

The schedule for next week will now be:

Monday and Tuesday are now e-learning days. Teachers will be available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to provide help and assistance. Hard copies will be available at Central from 10:30 a.m. - noon and from 5 to 7 p.m. If students need things out of their lockers, they will be allowed to access to them during these times as well.

Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday next week and Monday, March 30 the district is closed

This change in schedule will not impact the school year-end date of May 20 as the Governor has declared these days to be Act of God days and the e-learning day uses up an emergency day.

During the closure, the district will continue to provide Free meals to Amboy CUSD # 272 students Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20, and Monday, March 30. Families will be provided lunch for that day as well as breakfast for the following morning via a curbside service. We will not be serving meals during our already scheduled Spring Break of March 23 to the 27. If this changes due to the dynamics of the situation district administration will provide notice to all community members.

Meals can be picked up starting Monday and based on demand:

Amboy - Central Elementary school 11 a.m. to noon

Sublette – At the Ellis Dinges Center between 11 and 11:15 a.m.

Maytown – at the Township building between 11:45 a.m. and noon

Harmon - The Playground between 11 and 11:15 a.m.

Eldena – At the corner of Kilmer and S. Eldena Rd between 11:45 a.m. and noon

We request that people pick up one bag per child in their care and immediately leave the area. Due to our resources, food will be prepared daily and multiple day supply will not be available. If you are unable to come to any of the meal pick up locations, due to transportation issues, please reach out to your building principal.

If you have any questions, concerns, or comments please reach out to me at (815)857-2164 or jnichols@amboy.net.

I truly appreciate your support during these unprecedented times and apologize for the inconvenience
