AMBOY — Four Amboy Lions club members, Lions Jaclyn Kepka, Dennis Marsili, Jim Travi, and Roger Wittenauer recently attended the District D-1 Convention in Rockford. During the convention, a special memorial ceremony was held for the Lion members of the district who passed away in 2016. Among those remembered was Amboy Lion Ted Lilja. Those attending the convention returned to Amboy and presented Gladis Lilja, Ted’s wife, with a red rose from the ceremony. Lions Wittenauer and Travi created a video of the ceremony and presented it to the Lilja family.
Travi has picked up the scholarship applications and the scholarship committee is currently in the process of reviewing the applications. The Annual Lions Scholarships will be presented at the AHS Honors Night in mid-May.
District D-1 recognized Lion President Dave Kemp and the Amboy Lions Club for its increase in members during the past 12 months. The club is always looking for new members who are interested in serving the community. Please contact a Lion member if interested.
