AMBOY— The Amboy Education Foundation enjoyed another successful year of fundraising. They have also been grateful recipients of contributions from the United Way of Lee County, generous alumni and memorials on behalf of individuals that held the students of Amboy and their schools near and dear to their hearts.
As a result, they were able to allocate $30,000 to the Amboy School District for the 2019-2020 school year. This is a $2,000 increase over last year. This level of support to the schools is only possible through the generosity of our sponsors and all that participate in our events. The foundation recently had its first fundraiser of the year, the Annual Bowl-a-thon was held at Plum Hollow with 14 teams participating. This is truly a fun event where scores don’t matter.
The next fundraiser is the Wine (beer) and Cheese Gala to be held at the Amboy Community Building on Saturday, April 6. This event has certainly evolved over the years. The Hors d’oeuvres are plentiful and unique. Be sure to come hungry. They added beer to the tasting several years ago and bourbon last year. This year they are featuring beer made at two local breweries, Hairy Cow in Byron and Prairie Street in Rockford. Live Wire Hops, a local producer, supplies hops to both of these breweries.
The fun doesn’t stop there, they will also have a Dessert Auction with fantastic homemade treats and a live auction of meals prepared and served by the Amboy School Board and Amboy Education Foundation members.
Get your group of friends and family together to bid on one or both of these dinners.
