Amboy boys finished in third place at Seneca Cross Country meet

SENECA – Amboy boy cross country team finished in third place at the Twilight in the Woods Seneca FFA cross country meet on Sept. 3.

In the boys’ race, the Clippers finished third in the team standings with 91 points. Herscher took the top spot with 69 points. Other competing schools were Sandwich (88), Kankakee (115), Seneca (119), Morris (128), Minonk (179), Beecher (197), Plano (213), Ottawa (239) and Streator (247).

Two Amboy runners finished in the top eight. Brock Loftus crossed the finish line in third place with a time of 16:52.7 and Ian Eller finished in seventh at 17:48.1.

Other competitors for Amboy were Charlie Dickinson (24nd, 19:19), Wyatt Lundquist (30th, 20:12.8) and Ryan Dickinson (31st, 20:23.6) and Atticus Horner (32nd, 20:26.3).

Drew Rogers of Herscher was the overall individual champion with a time of 15:52.6.

In the girls’ race, four runners took to the course for the Lady Clippers, who did not place in the top seven teams. Morris grabbed first-place honors with 35 points, followed by Seneca (63), Ottawa (85), Herscher (92) and Beecher (94). 

Lauren Althaus was the first Lady Clipper to cross the finish line and was 15th overall with a time of 22:28.1. Elly Jones was next in 20th place in 23:15, while Bailey Ellis placed 35th in 25:38.9. Natalie Pratt (46thth, 28.00.4) also raced for Amboy.

Evelyn O’Connor of Seneca was the first runner through the chute in a time of 20:27.9.
