Clipper boys take first place in four events

AMBOY – Amboy-LaMoille hosted six other schools in the Gordon Mool Invitational track meet on April 20 at the AHS track.

Four first-place finishes powered the Clippers to second place in the team standings with 114 points. Forreston claimed the top spot with 166 points.

Three of A-L’s top finishes came in field events – Hunter Walzer in the long jump (18-1.25), Kyle Hunter in the shot put (44-3.5) and Austin Lundquist in the discus (127-1). The other first went to Travis Eames, who ran the 300-meter hurdles in 45.25.

In the girls’ meet, the Lady Clippers placed third with 57 points. Putnam County ran away with the top spot with 198 points, while Hinckley-Big Rock was second with 64 points.

A-L picked up one first-place finish. The 4x100-meter relay team crossed the finish line before the rest of the competitors in a time of 54.12. The A-L runners were Cassidy Corcoran, Ashley Althaus, Sidney Corcoran and Katelynn Pankhurst.
