Five first-place finishes power Lady Clippers

STERLING – The Amboy-LaMoille Lady Clippers dominated the competition to claim first place in the Rosenberry Track Classic on March 29 at the Westwood Complex in Sterling.

The Lady Clippers claimed five first-place finishes and scored 87 points to beat out second-place Hall, which had 82 points. There were 10 teams in the meet.

Amboy-LaMoille had three individual firsts and two relay teams that crossed the finish line ahead of the pack. Katelynn Pankhurst was among the individual top finishers as she set a new school record with a distance of 16-11.25 in the long jump. Other individual firsts went to Ashley Althaus in the 400-meter dash (1:04.7) and Kaitlyn Ortgiesen in the 800-meter run (2:41.3).

The Lady Clippers’ 4x400 relay squad broke the tape with a time of 4:28.59. Runners were Cassidy Corcoran, Pankhurst, Maddie Foster and Althaus. Also winning was the 4x800 relay team of Margaret Vaessen, Megan Grady, Ortgiesen and Erin Hosto in 10:33.4.
