FORRESTON – Ten first-place finishes powered the Amboy-LaMoille girls’ track team to a first-place finish in a five-team meet at Forreston on April 4.
The Lady Clippers piled up 125 points to best second-place Dakota, which tallied 101.5 points. Forreston-Polo checked in next with 75 points, while Earlville (21.5) and South Beloit (18) brought up the rear.
A-L had seven individual first-place winners, led by Katelynn Pankhurst in the long jump (15-5) and the triple jump (30-11). Also winning their events were Allison Hicks in the discus (78-7), Kelynn Boyle in the 3200-meter run (13:35), Cassidy Corcoran in the 100-meter dash (13.88), Sidney Corcoran in the 200-meter dash (29.8) and Megan Grady in the 1600-meter run (5:53).
The Lady Clippers broke the tape in three of the four relays. The 4x200 unit of Cassidy Corcoran, Sidney Corcoran, Ashley Althaus and Pankhurst had a time of 1:58.4; the 4x400 team of Cassidy Corcoran, Pankhurst, Maddie Foster and Althaus was clocked in 4:28.62; and the 4x800 tandem comprised of Grady, Margaret Vaessen, Kaitlyn Ortgiesen and Erin Hosto posted a time of 10:19.81.
