AMBOY — The 2018 Lee County 4-H Fair & Junior Show is July 26-29 at the Lee Co. 4-H Center & Fairgrounds on Route 30 just north of Amboy. The four-day event features events for everyone including a full grandstand line-up of tractor/truck pulls, Broken Horn Rodeo, Big M Amusements Carnival and the popular Fast Action Motorsports.

In addition to daily judging and livestock shows, free activities are available on the grounds daily. Kids’ Korners, Bingo, a magic show, corn boil, big wheel races and a corn husking contest ensure kids of all ages have a great time during the fair.

Fast Action Motorsports is back after its popular debut last year. The remote control car racing experience runs multiple races a day. Participants race cars around a set track, win and race again. Prizes are awarded to division winners. There is no charge to participate.

Big M Amusements will provide carnival rides for all ages and feature ticket and wristband specials daily. Hours of operation are 6 – 10 p.m. Thursday, 1 – 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Back in the grandstand are tractor/truck pulls and the Broken Horn Rodeo. Riders will compete in eight rodeo events including bull riding, roping and barrel racing. Kids, ages nine and under, can try their hand at the stick horse rode.  Local riders are also welcome. Call in entries July 23, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. 800-639-9002. Local entries must call this number on July 23 during the listed times. Registrations will not be accepted any other time.

Returning is the 4-H Fair Marketplace featuring local crafters, artisans, farmer’s market vendors, and home-based business products. The Marketplace opens 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 29 and closes at 3 p.m. A full list of vendors will be updated on Facebook.

Finally, the fair closes with the Car and Truck Show, Sunday, July 29. Check in begins at 11 a.m. Judging occurs from 1 to 3 p.m. Trophies are awarded.
